Writing Wednesday: Massaggio giapponese per gatti/ Japanese cat massage

Quando abbiamo letto questa breve notizia in un piccola colonna di un noto settimanale (Venerdì della Repubblica), non ci potevamo credere: in Giappone è stata sviluppata una tecnica di rilassamento per i nostri amici felini.
Avendo tanti gatti in casa, abbiamo applicato questa tecnica con qualche risultato.
Partendo dalla testa, si accarezza il paziente peloso fino alla coda; con la punta delle dita si eseguono, subito dopo, dei movimenti circolari lungo i fianchi e dietro il collo e si passa con movimenti delicati e verticali sul petto. Il massaggio continua lungo le zampe, separando le dita, e si conclude massaggiando il ventre.

Ai gatti, si sa, piace essere coccolati, ma i nostri studi casalinghi ci hanno portato a pensare che:
a) ogni gatto ha gusti differenti;
b) ogni gatto sceglie quando è il momento da dedicare al relax;

c) più sono piccoli, più sono pestiferi e questo grado di “vivacità” sarà direttamente proporzionale ai graffi ricevuti.

C’è anche chi, come il Dottor Takashi Ishino, usa uno spazzolino per massaggiare la schiena del gatto e simulare le leccate della mamma, ma non abbiamo ancora sperimentato questa variante…

When we’ve read this short article in a small column of a well-known Italian weekly we couldn’t believe it: in Japan people have developed a relaxation technique for our feline friends.
Since we have so many cats with us, we've applied this technique with some results.
We have to caress our furry patient starting from the head to the tail, with our fingertips we have to apply circular motions on the sides and on the back of the neck and then we have to rub the chest with gentle and vertical movements. The massage continues along the legs, by separating the fingers, and ends by massaging the belly.

Cats, you know, like to receive attentions and cuddles, but our home studies have led us to think that:
a) each cat has different tastes,
b) each cat chooses when it's relax time,
c) the younger, the wilder and this level of “vivacity” is directly proportional to the scratches people will receive.

There are also those, like Doctor Takashi Ishino, who use a toothbrush to rub cat's back and, at the same time, to simulate cat mama's licking, but we haven’t tested this variations yet...
